Wrapped up in a Good Story

So this is what I made for the Calendar of Tales. It’s for the July story, because the idea of being both comforted by and perilously lost in books hits pretty deep with me. Books and stories have been my companions as long as I can remember, and when the world walks out on you, they can be a shelter and an exile.

I designed and stitched this wrap dress in the buttery shade of old  paperbacks and wrote out the words to Neil Gaiman’s story on it. 

This just dropped my jaw…

#i need to just go over this one last time #so #sometime in the past week (or earlier who even knows with this guy’s brain) he decides to be ridiculous and make a shirt so he goes to the store and buys puffy paint — PUFFY PAINT — because there’s no way he had that just lying around his mansion (or is it in a special case with: emergency - break glass in case of slumber party) and then decides that just a plain white shirt should do it and then takes the time to hand write the words and you can tell he started off writing them small but then he overshot the size of the heart because he really does adore tom (they’re like brothers) and so he makes the rest nice and big to match and be visible from the crowd and when he’s done he’s like hmm a plain white shirt to a red carpet no i’ve got to class it up how about a nice suit coat right swanky now all i needs is some shades and an overwhelming lack of humility and we’re good to go #oh my god rupert grint #you are a rl wizard i stg
